so next stop was nelson, i stayed there for 2 nights, hostel was a bit strange but they had free wifi so got caught up on stuff. some nice pics from around town
i hiked up to the centre of NZ, why do they keep it up a big hill?

i went to this cute place for lunch, it was in a tourist attraction set up to look like an old town and cost $7 but they let me in for free cause i said i wanted to go to the cafe :)
after nelson i headed to kaikoura, its the whale capital of NZ, so pretty. i stopped on my way to eat my packed lunch and found this guy hanging out on the beach

the place where i stayed, there were no dorm beds left so i just treated myself to a private room :) the kiwi experience bus people were staying there also so i had quite a few drinking buddies that night
the next day i packed up and went out to the peninsula and did the walk along the coast, took just over 2 hours

i took this pic to show what the roads around NZ are like, there's hardly any motorways so the main road travelling down the country looks like this, much nicer than big motorways i think
